Denver Browns battle
Rollin' Rockies
The
Denver Browns Baseball Club of the Denver NABA took on the Colorado Rollin'
Rockies in a game of wheelchair softball at Coors Field Parking Complex on
Wednesday, August 1, 2007. The game proved to be the biggest challenge yet
for the Rollin' Rockies playing a competive baseball team such as the
Browns. The game will prepare Rollin' Rockies for the Nebraska Barons
Wheelchair Softball Invitational this weekend - August 4 and 5th.
"As Colorado's only wheelchair softball team, playing able-bodied softball
teams is the only way we can get game experience," says Rollin' Rockies
manager Ron Bolseth. "While the game does not count for us, it was a great
experience for the Browns to compete on our level (in wheelchairs)." He
added. The Rollin' Rockies went on to win 13-2 in a friendly yet competitive
game. Currently, the Rollin' Rockies have outscored their able-bodied
opponents 60-4 in the three games they've played so far.
The Rollin' Rockies will travel to Omaha this weekend in preparation for the
National Wheelchair Softball Tournament to be contested in St. Paul,
Minnesota later this month. The Rockies are currently ranked 9th in the
nation of the 47 wheelchair softball teams that make up the National
Wheelchair Softball Association.
